[...] Posts and discussions like this make me want to read books from new angles, so instead of doing my January Movie Reviews or the summary of Travel Journal Practices as promised or introducing you to Yorick the Impoverished, or wailing about how devastated I am at the rejection of a story (well, more a sort of “I told you so” mood of fidgety discontent because I agree with the editor, but want to submit to something else now), I am thinking about Connie Willis’ Bellwether, which I reread last month and reviewed briefly in this post.
I need to brush up on my Carmody or risk being left out of this conversation!

I agree, Emma, except that it feels like it should be a hyphenated name because the McCall is also a surname. It wouldn't bother me if it were "Alexander Paul Smith". Actually, it shouldn't bother me at all since my middle name is a surname... One of those little things that stick in my mind.

The next Obernewtyn book?! I had given up on seeing one! I'm not sure I quite remember the story so far either (I think I started reading these in 1992!)

Surely McCall Smith would be filed under S? It's not a hyphenated name so think you would go for the last one...

Aimee:

Handsome archaeology professors are always interesting. See: Bringing up Baby, Wives and Daughters, Indiana Jones, What's Up Doc, etc (drawing the definition broadly here).

Alas, you will have to lay your hand on the Princess Diaries elsewhere (perhaps your school library?) because they are not returning to Qld unless Karen really, really takes offense at them. I do have All American Girl, but I think you read that?

Have you thought of starting a Flickr account for photos etc? I've upgraded to a pro account, but the basic account is free (you can leave comments there then :)

PS Photos with fan and paper crowny-thing are cool. You would really suit renaissance costumes, looking at those pictures.
