While your home-country isn't quite as dear or beautiful to me, it does have its assets.

Whenever I drive home to Dalby, it's on a Friday evening. At the top of the range I'm usually squinting into a ferocious sun that turns the asphalt lemon-silver. Then God empties his paintbox in breathtaking varieties of colour and deft brush-strokes of interesting cloud shapes and textures. (Last Friday the clouds were like the surface of water, seen from below.) A couple of times I've been gushing about the sky to God so much I almost crashed the car. By the time I'm in the flat lands the sun is either sinking in a molten, runny lump or it's dark, and far out I can just make out where the indigo sky reaches all the way down to the black earth, with hardly a tree or a hill to break the horizon's circle in any direction.

I really like my drives home.

PS Just in case you thought I was getting all high brow, the sign "Doctors Creek" always makes me grin as I drive past.

:P

PPS Another thing that I noticed one day was the way that columns of midges swarmed at evenly spaced intervals along one section of road, on either side. I wonder why they did that?

This one was straight into the computer: I drew the silhouette and added the text in Corel (both in black) then into Photoshop to mess with backgrounds and layer effects.
