Projects: Portrait Party Moleskine Exchange

There are a few small projects furtively on the boil around here. One is the International Moleskine Exchange Portrait Party Swap. I started late, what with being on the way to Vanuatu &c, but I have now completed the opening pages of my sketchbook, which should be sent off just as the next one makes its way to me (i.e. this week). Each person does a self-portrait and a portrait of the book’s owner (from photos or video) and sends it on. The official blog is here: http://mxportraits1.blogspot.com/ and the Flickr group here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/moly_x.

I’ll cross-post with pictures occasionally.

I am back in Australia and I have begun my Moleskine for the exchange.

I executed my self-portrait in Pitt Artist Pens (my favourite sketchbook pen at the moment, although you can see the individual pen strokes). As you can see, I was feeling pretty cheerful when I planned it, and not having any self-esteem issues.

Here is the sign-in page. I am showing the small version because it is very ugly, although you can of course see a larger version by going through to Flickr and clicking “all sizes”. I am hoping every one else’s frames and pictures will make it a little bit less of an eyesore.

I don’t think I have a theme. But I do like old fashioned games and parlour games and word games, so I won’t object if people reference those – and I did allude to them in the books on the sign-in page.

  1. A self portrait paper doll is a neat concept. I think those paper clothes might fit me too. Just about the right shape and style. Maybe not the superhero ones. Very nicely done.

  2. Thanks Vickie :)
I’d been thinking of doing a paperdoll of my clothes for a while and this theme kicked me into action (the superhero costume, I must note, is not actually in my wardrobe – yet).
