Illustration Friday: Flawed

Flawed

A small scratchboard piece with digital colouring for this week’s Illustration Friday topic.

ETA: The hair is based on Angela Slatter’s hair, which I was sitting immediately behind at a reading a few weeks ago.

Also, a new blog header for February, although I will miss the foxes. This is a biro doodle.

  1. It does draw the eye, this one. I will miss the foxes too. There aren’t enough dirigible foxes in the world. But there’s movement and mystery in this one. And people who look like characters from an interesting story.

One you could write now, if you wanted to… :)

  2. It took me a while to realise this, but ‘flawed left’ looks much more stern and dominating and ‘flawed right’ so much more submissive and innocent. If you don’t see it, just put your hand near the screen and mostly cover one then the other.

The fracture is deeper than the mirror and the two personalities cannot align, even though they make up the one person.

I hope this is not autobiographical as reflections so often imply…

  3. Thankyou for the encouragement, Aimee :)
Tim – I don’t think it’s autobiographical, but thanks for picking up on that. I tried not to make the two halves too identical.
